Charlas, Mosaicos, Lacrosse...!

Últimamente La Asociación CREAR ha estado bien ocupada. Acabamos de terminar nuestro mosaico/mural a la par de la policía, con la ayuda de varios grupos de voluntarios, y también los niños locales. ¡Deberían de pasar a ver lo lindo que quedó! Desde el 3 hasta el 11 de agosto llegó un grupo de jugadores de un deporte que se llama “lacrosse” para enseñarles a todos los niños este nuevo deporte. Todos nos divertimos bastante y hubo un intercambio de culturas a través de un deporte. Algunos niños se engancharon bastante con lacrosse, y vamos a seguir trayendo estos grupos para acá para que todos sigan aprendiendo y mejorando.

               Después de nuestra semana con lacrosse, hicimos una charla que se trataba del reciclaje para todas las mamas que trabajan con la escuela de idiomas, Intercultura. Aprendimos sobre lo que significa “Reducir, Reutilizar y Reciclar” y también sobre cuales materiales se puede reciclar y cuáles no. El 5 de setiembre, vamos a ofrecer esta misma charla a la comunidad de Santo Domingo, y todavía estamos planeando las fechas para ofrecérsela a los niños de las escuelas de San Fernando, El Torito, y Sámara Centro. Igual tenemos planeado dar nuestra charla sobre Energía renovable y no-renovable a los niños de la escuela de San Fernando el 30 de agosto.

CREAR has been so busy lately! With the help of various volunteer groups, and the local children, we just finished our mosaic on the side of the Police station in Samara Centro. Stop by and check out how beautiful it turned out!

From the 3^rdto the 11^thof August we hosted a group of high school lacrosse players, who came to teach all of our local students about this new and exciting sport. Everyone had a great time, and lacrosse ended up being a great medium for cultural exchange. Some of our students proved to be really good! We will definitely continue to host lacrosse groups in the future so that we can all continue to learn and improve with this new sport.

After our week with lacrosse, we gave an assembly on recycling to all the mothers that work with the language school, Intercultura. We learned about what “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” really means, as well as what materials can and cannot be recycled. We will be offering this same assembly to the Santo Domingo community on September 5^th; and we are still planning the dates for when we will give it to the students of the San Fernando, Sámara Centro and El Torito schools. We have also planned to give our assembly on Renewable and Non-renewable Energy to the San Fernando School on August 30^th.
