December was a big month for CREAR. We spent time wrapping up the year with FIESTAS in Samara, Rodeos, carnivals and more! We also spent time working on an exciting new partnership with Fields of Growth! With their collaboration, we are going to start two new initiatives: First- we are starting a co-ed Lacrosse team with the youth of Playa Samara and El Torito. Second - we are going to begin a Boys and a Girls Local SURF TEAM! We are excited to be working with Nikola Ruhlow from Playa Carrillo; Nikola is going to head up the Lacrosse and the boys surf team while our Director Andrea is going to take on the girls' surf team. We know our kids have talent and we are excited to see them in action! Check out a youtube Video of Fields of Growths time here with us!
We are also kicking off 2012 with our annual two week summer day-camp! First we do two weeks with El Torito and then we will spend two weeks with the kids of Playa Samara. We are almost done with El Torito's camp... Here is a list of some of the awesome things we have done!
Made REAL Mr. and Mrs. Potato heads
Created cardboard box sleds. (You may be wondering, for what? Well just you get ready...)
Went grass "sledding" at a Mango Farm in Carrillo! Transport generously provided for free by Carrillo Adventures. This was an amazing trip with beautiful rolling hills and a breathtaking view of the pacific ocean! Please check out our facebook for pictures and videos!
Held an international day making Japanese dyed paper, Suminagashi, and practicing aerobics with Andrea, our Argentinean special guest. She's not only an physical fitness instructor but she is trained in Capoeira...We cannot wait to get the kids more involved in that!
Went on an Eco-walk with Alvaro courtesy of Samara Trails. It was so much fun to take the kids up the El Torito river and learn more about the habitat and how everything is so very connected.
Made eco-friendly oatmeal body scrub and held a mini dance party! Many thanks to Linsday Lavelle and her great choreography skills, the kids had a blast with Limbo.
Went on another Eco-walk to the Tarantela. Many thanks to Franz and his guide Don Luis! It was a beautiful walk through the forest. The kids loved finding fruiting lime trees along the way as well. Thanks again to Carrillo Adventures for providing transport.
Spent a day at the beach with sand castle competition and a homemade slip and slide. A great time was had by all!
We have a few more activities lined up for the El Torito children and then we head to Samara... Please stay tuned to see all the cool things we are up too
Happy New Year
